A Crisis we can't Ignore
How can one of the wealthiest countries in the world struggle to house so many of its citizens? How can so many pretend that the problem does not exist and that the people on the streets are not there? And how is this problem not the number one priority of those in charge of our nation?
I know that there are an endless amount of problems that our country faces today, but I certainly think getting everyone a place to live should be a good place to start.
Before we can solve the actual problem, I think the stigma associated with homelessness must be eliminated. We are all human. We all have feelings. Bad things can happen to anyone. These are the people who need the most love. They should not be ignored.
Too often people walk by those without homes without even acknowledging their existence. If we pretend these people aren't there or even resent them for "putting themselves in this situation'', we will never be able to fix the crisis that got them there.
There are tons of factors that contribute to homelessness, and they really could happen to anyone. I chose this raster image to make my vector poster because it portrays the reality of life going on while those experiencing homelessness are often ignored and pushed to the back of our minds while, in reality, their daily life is often just finding a place to sleep and something to eat.
I will have my completed poster up next week which will hopefully comment on and do justice to the priority that this crisis deserves.
