Vector Learning Process
I've never used a vector program before, and there is certainly a learning curve. Honestly, the closest thing I've done to this is using the paint application on my Mom's old desktop back in the early 2000s. I decided to take the slow and steady route to get comfortable with the program I am using, Adobe Illustrate. Above is an in-progress image of my vector poster, but getting to that point was not easy.
I've been watching a video recommended by my professor ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib8UBwu3yGA ) and learning the basics of the program. So far to show for it I have this penguin, that I traced from a different image as he walked me through, and we even added some shading and more detail. I think he's pretty cute.
Then I made this koala bear on my own accord, without tracing another image or following along to a video. I think I understand the basics of the program, but still have a lot to learn. I think I'm grasping this program more than I have things like photoshop, simply because I do have someone to walk me right through what I need to be learning. It really makes a difference! Usually when I'm working with a new software, I just jump in and try to figure it out myself, but this, believe it or not, makes it way easier.
Working on the poster has not been simple, there are lots of details and different layers of the photograph I'm using. I've learned so far that the shape building tool is my best friend. I don't know what I would do without it because it allows my to shade and adjust the coloring on different sections of my poster, which I have been doing a lot.
I'm looking forward to learning more in Illustrate and using this knowledge to finish my vector poster next week!
